Turnout Trophy

In record turnout year, 2020 Turnout Trophy goes to Vineland and Stow Creek

Vineland and Stow Creek are the winners of Cumberland County’s 2020 Turnout Trophy.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Cumberland County voters cast ballots in record numbers in the November 3rd general election. Voting by mail as well as in person, nearly 71 percent of all registered voters across the county participated.

With more than 70 percent of its voters turning out, Vineland topped the city division this year. Stow Creek repeated its 2019 win over township rivals with a huge turnout of 85 percent. It was close, though. Millville, last year’s city winner, was just .1% behind Vineland. Shiloh finished just 1.8% shy of Stow Creek.

The Cumberland County Clerk’s office established the Turnout Trophy competition in 2018 as an added incentive for voters to take part in elections – a friendly competition between the cities and townships to boost turnout.

The sculpted glass award, created by WheatonArts and displayed publicly at the Clerk’s Cumberland Mall office, will be engraved with the names this year’s winners. Vineland and Stow Creek will be awarded 2020 championship banners to hang in their city and township offices.
