Important Passport Notice – The Department of State Has Changed Passport Requirements

Effective January 9, 2017, the Department of State is requiring all customers applying for a passport using form DS-11 to submit a clear copy of their citizenship evidence in addition to their original or certified copy of U.S. citizenship. Please review the documents below for more detail.

Passport Processing Hours

No appointment is necessary.

We do ask that you arrive

Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Last passport applicant will be accepted at 4:00)

Extended hours every Tuesday until 7:00 p.m. (Last passport applicant will be accepted at 6:30)

The Cumberland County Clerk’s Office is located in the County Courthouse on Broad Street in Bridgeton.

Parking is available on the street and the entrance for the County Garage is on Vine Street.

Courthouse security requires all visitors to enter in the rear entrance of the building on Fayette Street.

Passport Information

We encourage you to visit the US Department of State website to learn more about applying for and renewing passports.  Online processing is not available at this time, but you are able to fill out the appropriate forms online and print to bring to our office to expedite processing.  We strongly recommend that you print your forms in black and white and not in color.

Routine Service, passports are generally issued within 4-6 weeks.

Expedited Service, passports are taking 2-3 weeks.  The fee for Expedited service is an additional $60.00 per applicant.

If your departure date is within 14 days, you must go directly to the Philadelphia Passport Agency located in the U.S. Customs House, 2nd & Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia, PA. You must make an appointment by calling (877) 487- 2778.  Complete white boxes 1 thru 22 only. Do not sign application. Signature must be witnessed by acceptance clerk.

PHOTOGRAPHS

Please provide one recent professional passport photographs. (2″ x 2″on light or white background) Front view, full face. No hat or dark glasses. Do not smile.

Photographs can now be taken at the Clerk’s Office for a fee of $10.

FEES

You can pay your “Passport Fee” portion by check, money order made payable to the “US Department of State.”

Our office does accept credit cards but charges a $3.00 convenience fee for each transaction.

Children and Minors

All children must appear when making application for passport. Either both parents or legal guardians must execute application for children under age 16. For age 16 or 17, one parent must apply. Parents or guardians must present valid driver’s license or federal government I.D.. If you had a previous passport you may be eligible to use form DSP-82 and apply by mail. You can submit your most recent passport, if your previous passport was valid for ten years, and was issued within the previous fifteen (15) years.
